“Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing.” – Dalí
The Collector questions my relationship with Art and NFTs.
When I first heard of NFTs, I didn’t get it. I actually missed out on the fungible by Pak because of this.
In The Collector, I've examined three properties of what makes up my concept of Art
Movements
● BEAUTY
At the center of our dualistic view of the world is beauty. Beauty has a transitory definition. However, to stop us scrolling through the infinite feed on twitter, something has to catch our eye. It needs to be visually appealing. Or, you can just say it plainly like Pak, “Make it interesting.”
■ FOUNDATION
In school, my teachers would tell us that designers were hired less for their skills and more for their ideas. Behind every good piece of art is an interesting concept. Even the most beautifully painted picture in the world has a story to tell. There’s an additional foundation for NFTs, the blockchain. This common foundation allows artists to do things no one has seen before.
◆ DISTINCT
As we wade through a sea of 10K PFP projects, we tire of sameness. Paradoxically, the best art is both derivative and distinct.
[Perfect Loops]
Upon completion of the multi-edition drop, I airdropped a perfect loop version to everyone who collected the movements.
